When “The Man” Really is the Man

As the dust has settled following President Obama’s not quite State of the Union Address and the subsequent Republican self-defenestration, it appears that a new order has taken hold in the DC corridors of power. On the one one hand we have Kenneth, I mean Bobby, and his earnest yet misguided attempts at speaking truth to power:

…while on the other we have the perpetual outcasts, the “Defeat-ocrats,” the party of Mondale, in the ascendancy, finally sitting courtside as the cool kids are wont to do:

It means it’s time to hit as many Nationals’ games as possible in hopes of sending our Commander in Chief a Ben’s half-smoke with all the fixin’s. And that ain’t no euphemism. The man has taste.

It’s good to have a smart president. Not as much to make fun of, but I’d rather have a respected leader than a funny one.

I’m with Caroline on this one. At this time we need a smart president and not one we can laugh at.

I’m all about the guy taking in a game. He would surely get up and act if anything bad would happen in the country during his time at the game. He’s just stimulating the economy. That beer paid a vendors salary while the ticket probably helped pay for a hand made Rolls which in turn needs to be washed by a lowley car washer. One big cycle.

The difference between Obama drinking and Bush drinking is that Obama won’t get drunk enough to start choking on pretzels and then smashing his face into tables…. oh wait, Bush did that sober?

One of my greatest hopes is that someday some reporter brings up baseball to Obama and gets him to say he hates the Cubs. Because you know he does; he’s a White Sox fan. It might go something like this:
Reporter: “Mr. President, your White Sox took 5 of 6 from the Cubs in Interleague Play this season. What do you have to say to Cubs fans now that your team’s victories have knocked them out of first place?”
Obama: “Well, I’d have to say that I hate the Cubs. The Cubs s*ck.”
That would be my ringtone for the rest of my life: President Obama saying “The Cubs s*ck.”

Do you think the Cubs will invite Obama to sing Take Me Out To The Ballgame just to see what he says? That would be awesome…he can get drunk with Eddie Vedder :O)

I bet Obama is drinkin’ a Miller High Life in that picture. I would be. And, Chris, that’d be my everything-tone. I would die happy hearing that.

I was going to say that I thought our commander-in-chief was a White Sox fan. That’s one of the things that made me hesitant to vote for him ;) At least he’s not a sometimes Cub/ sometimes Yankee fan like his Secretary of State. –

I bet Obama is having a side of broccoli with his beer – the anti-Bush in every way.

Jeff or Allen, do you know where I can find a clip of Pujols’ homer off of Lidge in 2005? I looked once before on Youtube but could only find handheld camera footage and nothing was clear enough to enjoy. That is still one of my favorite home runs of all time and I would like to watch it…

You can watch it on MLB.com’s video vault. Just go to the video section and enter a search under “Pujols”. It’s there. I’ve seen it a billion times ;-)
