What do you do when you’re from a state like South Dakota or Nebraska that definitely has no professional sports teams and barely even has a population?
The question doesn’t apply so much when you come from the northeast and its glut of teams. Mainers, at least the ones I know, tend to go with the Mass-holes and the people I’ve met from Connecticut often opt for New York. But those are states with legitimate populations. That still doesn’t answer the question.
What do you do when you’re from a state that is quite literally the middle of nowhere?
Well, if you’re from the homeland of Warren Buffett and mail order steaks, apparently you take yourself way too seriously and go transcontinental when choosing to cheer:

When I was in college, I met a bunch of girls from Nebraska at a convention. They said their favorite musician was Barry Manillow. It is a whole different world there. ;o)

Alan,
I would think some of the state would be New York Yankee fans because of Joba Chamberlain’s affliation with the high stalks of corn. But you never know, they could go East to St Louis, or possibly want to head to the mountains and hit Denver and the Rockies.
Guess it would depend on if they are Husker fans….then they would have to respect the red and white of the Cardinals.

I’m with Renegade. I figured there would be a lot of people in Nebraska who would go for Joba and the Yankees. In fact, I met quite a few in Kansas City. They’d driven over for the series. But I think it’s all about what TV stations you get. Look at all the fans who grew up rooting for the Braves just because they saw them on TBS.
