Four of the Greatest Stories Ever Told
As one who is acutely aware of the aggravating effects of speaking in unchecked and unvetted absolutes, I must choose my words wisely, especially after witnessing baseball miracle after miracle after miracle. But, judging from the number of cardiac arrests I had in the comforts of my own home last evening, I can honestly say — WITH COMPLETE AND UNSHAKEABLE FAITH — that September 28, 2011 will go down as the greatest single day of regular season baseball games I have ever watched.

Whoever came up with the ABC Sports slogan back in the day, “The ecstasy of victory, the agony of defeat’ was a genius. (I think that was the slogan, or was it?) Anyway, you get my drift.
Indeed. I get your drift, Jane. Last night was all of it, TIMES A LOT!
What a night! Three of the four games with playoff implications were nail-biters at the end. After the Phils finally knocked off the Braves, I actually stayed up to see the conclusion of the Sox-Orioles and Yankees-Rays games. So much drama! Oh, and I think it was the “thrill” of victory, yada yada. Each week seemed to have a different thrill of victory clip, but the agony of defeat was always that same poor guy sliding off the end of the ski jump. Wonder what ever became of him?
Sue, I feel ya. I was flippin’ through all four games last night like a mad man. Glad we weren’t on the “agony” side of it!

First, congrats to both you guys for your teams making the playoffs. Perhaps a 2006 World Series rematch?
Secondly I agree 100 per cent that Wednesday’s finish was the great of all time…so far. After seeing what I saw that night i no longer doubt anything in baseball. Anything is possible….but ’11 will be very, very, very, very hard to top.
