We Signed Up for This

I ran the Chicago Marathon yesterday, so pain is on my mind today.  Obviously, the Cardinals’ loss to Milwaukee didn’t make me feel much better; but as I sit here with ice on my quads, a beer in my hand and a masochistic grin on my face, I continue to remind myself that a) things are gonna get better b) it’s a MARATHON not a sprint and c) we signed up for this.

With every pitch, with every swing (every stride, every step) our feelings and emotions are fully invested.  We worked hard to get here and we’re not gonna lay down and die just because we’re a little knocked down.  Instead, we’re gonna lace ‘em up, pound the pavement and enjoy the burn.

With a smile.

Don’t hate me ‘cuz I’m right.

Peace,

Jeff

You ran the marathon? I’m impressed! I’m sure it was worth the pain. Congrats.

Yep. I did. And yes, the pain was worth the satisfaction!

Between Chris Carpenter, Marc Z, Octavio Dotel and Edwin Jackson, I think the Jays deserve some credit for how far the Cards have gotten thus far.

On an unrelated note, I like donuts….just sayin’.

Jeff, congratulations on completing Chicago! It’s nice that I’m not the only one that runs on MLBlogosphere. I’ve done two of the five majors (New York – 2005 and Boston 1999 and 2001). Chicago is on my bucket list. Definitely, it’s been an interesting postseason thus far. Hopefully, Detroit will rebound from 0-2.

Thanks, Wayne! Having now run Chicago, I am thirsty for the other four majors. As for Detroit… I think they’ll turn it around at home.
Blue Jays Nest — The good thing about running is you can get away with donuts now and then if you need em ;-)
