The 2012 World Series — The One We’ll All Soon Forget

That was bad for our health, man.  That was one awful, no good, TERRIBLE World Series… unless you’re a Giants fan, of course.  No lead changes til boring Game 4.  Hitting juggernauts (one wearing three crowns) silenced throughout by the likes of Zito and Vogelsong.  Justin Verlander s*%@ing the bed.

We just got a good dose of why football rules ‘Merica.

Don’t hate me ‘cuz I’m right.

Peace,

Jeff

I don’t know, Jeff, that interview with the Taco Bell exec was pretty darn exhilarating. Not to mention Tim McCarver reminding us of deafening Barry Manilow chants past at Giants Park.

Oh yes, the Doritos Locos fiasco. Between that and the god bless ‘merica b.s., I had no choice but to keep the sound muted throughout.

Speaking of gb ‘merica bs – I wonder if, there at the end of Game 4, the usher would have let me sit in the aisle behind home plate with a neon green sign reading “Good Without God”, like he did with the “John 3:16″ sign-holder? Yeah, I think we know the answer to that one.

Definitely a dull World Series. Sweeps are only exciting to fans of the team doing the sweeping. The only game that had a bit of life was Game 4. But I don’t see how this shows why football rules in popularity. The Super Bowl is deadly dull, boring and decided before the end of the 2nd quarter roughly – every bit as dull as this World Series – but with far greater frequency. I’d say about half the time. I think it’s the quick season and time clock strategy – two reasons that make me prefer baseball.

Have you watched the Super Bowl the last ten years, Kristen? I wish I could agree with you, but the last 10 years have produced fantastic Super Bowls, the exceptions being Oak/TB (’03), Pit/Sea (’06), NO/IND (’07). The last five years in particular have produced some of the best, most competitive Super Bowls of all time. The thing is, the NFL has excitement built into it from angles. And the parity in the league is unrivaled in other sports. Believe me, I love baseball more than any other sport there is, but this World Series was such a skunker that even I had a hard time watching it.

Jeff-yes the WS was horrible and boring and did nothing for the sport of baseball. The long layover, again. froze the Tiges offense and they never got them thawed out. I would like to see a ‘unified’ set of rules for the WS, though, instead of one set for the NL venues, and different for the AL. It always seems the NL has the advantage, and they’ve used it the last few years. The home field advantage is really the home ‘rules’ advantage.
